Dr Samer is well known for her skills as a public speaker, educator and writer. Over the years she has spoken to a wide variety of organisations and community groups on a diverse range of topics including women’s health, sexuality, nutritional medicine, cosmetic medicine, communication skills and more. She has written a regular column for Nova Magazine, been involved with radio and television and taught at a variety of tertiary institutions in Western Australia.

She is an inspirational speaker when she shares her own personal journey. Dr Joanne Samer has been living with Multiple Sclerosis for 18 years and cancer for 13 years and she has spent many of these years learning about how to remain well and in turn help others. Her previous medical practice was driven by her ability to rapidly integrate information and in turn share it with others.

She has a remarkable story of beating the odds and remaining well despite existing with two serious life threatening illnesses. To this day, she remains positive and optimistic and yet has to embrace many aspects of life that others would find challenging, just to keep well.
